Nottnghamshire Ramblers aim to maintain a varied walks programme to meet the needs of our 2200+ members.
The walks range from short wellbeing walks with no hills or stiles, to longer-distance walks covering distances of up to 16 miles. The walks also vary in pace, with walks graded ‘Easy’, ‘Leisurely’, ‘Moderate’ or ‘Strenuous’. We aim to have a programme that has something for everyone. The walks are led by our magnificent walk leaders who are as varied as the walks themselves.
Nottinghamshire Area has thirteen groups covering different regions of the county but that does not mean you are limited to your local group's walks and we encourage everyone to walk with any of the Nottinghamshire groups.
A QUICK GUIDE FOR WALKERS
- Wear suitable clothing and footwear for the conditions, if in doubt, ask the walk leader.
- Bring your own food or snacks and something to drink.
- Plan how you will get to the walk. Many people are still unwilling to share a car with others.
- Some walks are advertised as "dog-friendly" but please do check with the walk leader in advance. Dogs need to be kept under close control, on a short lead at all times, and owners must be able to cope without asking others for help. We generally accept Registered Assistance dogs on walks, provided they can get over stiles!
- Please don’t come on a walk if you, or anyone in your household, have any illness or are self-isolating.
- Let the walk leader or backmarker know if you are having problems, feel unwell, or need to slow down or stop.
- The walk leader will have a first aid kit, but for minor incidents it may be better to use your own.
- If you have any questions, please contact the walk leader.
