Nottinghamshire Area Ramblers

Secret Life of a Rambler

ADRIAN AMER - Newark Group

Born of a Hucknall mother and a Teeside father, I moved to Newark on Trent just before lockdown and have re-discovered the joys of the Nottinghamshire countryside having spent my teenage years roaming the countryside surrounding Hucknall, Papplewick, Linby, Calverton and Misk Hills. While continuing to work full time I have joined the Newark Ramblers and have met the most amazing and dedicated group of Ramblers in Britain. Cool, calm, compassionate about the local countryside, their knowledge and information about every rambling nook, cranny, pathway and right of way is second to none! Up hill, down dale and around every corner throughout this sublimely quiet and serene county is a sight to behold and an experience to savour when walking with fellow Ramblers. Every where we walk we always seem to catch a view of Lincoln Cathedral from some great height or other which is reminiscent of a Chaucerian walk! Their subtle and warm friendship and their acceptance of all only adds to the joys of the day, which very often ends up with a cool libation in either the winter or the summer, and the strengthening of the love of rambling generally.

Comment from James Magill

Adrian Amer hails from Newark, is Vice Chair of Nottinghamshire Area Ramblers and is typically modest in his potted biography omitting to add that he is a successful barrister as well as an award-winning photographer. His talents also include baking (as those who have sampled his productions at Ramblers meetings can confirm!)
